Thermal imaging inspection is a non-destructive testing method that uses infrared (IR) cameras to detect and measure heat patterns on the surface of an object. The IR camera converts the invisible infrared radiation emitted by all objects into a visible image, with hotter areas appearing brighter and cooler areas appearing darker. This allows the inspector to see areas of heat loss, moisture intrusion, electrical problems, and other hidden defects that would not be visible to the naked eye.
